How to Post a Challenge

Posting a great challenge is the most important step in getting a great solution. This guide walks you through the process.

Step 1: Define the Problem

Before you open the challenge form, spend time clearly defining:

  • What problem are you trying to solve? Be specific. "I need a better CRM" is not a problem. "I need a way to automatically log customer calls and extract action items" is a problem.
  • What does success look like? Define measurable criteria. What will you test? What output do you expect?
  • What constraints exist? Technology requirements, budget limits, timeline needs.

Step 2: Fill Out the Challenge Form

Click Post a Challenge in the navigation. You'll be guided through three steps:

Step 1: Basic Info

  • Title — A clear, specific headline (e.g., "Build a medical OCR prototype for prescription scanning")
  • Category — Choose the closest match (Tech, Design, Data, etc.)
  • Urgency — How quickly do you need this solved?

Step 2: Details

  • Description — Explain the problem in detail. Include context, constraints, and examples.
  • Tags — Add relevant technology or domain tags
  • Reward — Set a fair reward. Higher rewards attract more builders.

Step 3: Review & Publish

  • Review your challenge
  • Confirm the reward amount
  • Publish

Writing a Great Description

The best challenge descriptions follow this structure:

## Background
[Why does this problem exist? What's the context?]

## The Problem
[What specifically needs to be solved?]

## Success Criteria
[How will you evaluate solutions?]

## Constraints
[Technology requirements, budget, timeline]

## Resources
[Any data, APIs, or assets builders can use]

Setting the Right Reward

Rewards should reflect the complexity and value of the problem:

ComplexitySuggested Reward
Simple (1-4 hours)$50 - $200
Medium (1-2 days)$200 - $1,000
Complex (1 week)$1,000 - $5,000

After Publishing

Once your challenge is live:

  1. Share it on social media and in relevant communities
  2. Respond to builder questions in the comments
  3. Review submitted solutions as they come in
  4. Select the winning solution and release the reward
